CUSH Vol. 4: Thank you for being here!
September 18th, 2024
Hello hello! It feels strange and exciting to now be writing to all of my new subscribers instead of to my 2 friends I shared this newsletter with at its conception. I want to say thank you to everyone that subscribed! As with most creatives, the self-doubt is strong in me and you being here means a lot :)
My goal is to give you a few niche creators, with the rest creating content that can be applied across industries. I do have plans for future deep dives into certain categories, and other fun iterations of this newsletter focusing on the fine art of influencer marketing.
Every Wednesday, I’m sharing a fresh list of 10 creators across industries to help you find unique talent for your influencer campaigns. The first 3 creators are free, while the full list of 10 is available for paid subs. Volumes 1-3 are currently free in the archive. You can upgrade to a paid subscription here. Please let me know if you have any requests, feedback, thoughts, etc. and thank you again for being here!
Let’s get into it.
Creators U Should Hire Vol. 4
The list follows this format, numbered in no particular order: Handle Linked to example post | Category or short description | My two cents
@aestheticallycomplexpies | Food/bev | This extremely talented artist creates ‘cheese plates as fine art’, as she describes it, and I can confidently say I’ve never seen anything like this before. The beauty of it, the patience it must take, it’s all incredibly impressive and true artistry. I want her to blow up and get invited to do NYFW events. She does have a ‘structural snack’ catering company already, but I saw @snackfactory comment on her video, and I really hope they’re thinking about paying her to make sponsored content with their pretzels because that’s a no brainer!
@heyyy_brittney | Fashion | I get a lot of teacher ootd content on my feed and I rarely see these kind and creative humans get sponsored by clothing brands. I would love to start a trend of brands outfitting teachers because they usually have really fun style and deserve it! Britt is a 3rd grade teacher who ranks her outfits every week and shares them with us with endearing and relatable VOs. She’s posting TikTok shop items, and doing a damn good job promoting them, and did a sponsored post with Old Navy, but I didn’t love how scripted it was. Brands like Anthropologie, Free People, ASOS, a lot of the brands she’s already buying, should work with her to do a video with a whole week of outfits from the brand, and have her rank them. Good sponsored content briefs don’t need scripts, because they should be working off of the content the creator is already doing well.
@ben_zank | Photography | An impressive surrealist photographer creating mind-bending visuals, take that AI! The behind the scenes video footage is part of the allure of his content, so if I were to work with him, I would definitely have BTS video as part of the deliverables, and keep his format the same. For example “I’m a surrealist photographer. Here are some photos I took for ‘brand’”. The video caption could then drive users to the brand’s Instagram to see a carousel of the actual photos. Love a strategic user journey flow for influencer content.
